Due to the north-south positioning, the “Valley of Lights” is known for its soft and sunny (blue sky) climate. The valley is less touristic than other Swiss mountain areas as it lacks transit traffic. The local Swiss call it therefore often the area for "small but exquisite tourism ("Das kleine aber feine Tourismus").
