The apartment is located on the Bielahügel hill in a unique location above Brig, with a view of the Rhone Valley and the surrounding mountains. A secluded garden surrounded by forest, meadows and an open water conduit (Suone, Bisse) separates the property from the adjacent nature reserve "Achera Biela" (Wallis rock steppe with dry vegetation). ARRIVAL Directions by car: From Brig city center (Saltinabrücke directly in front of the old town) towards Simplon, after the swimming pool and cemetery turn left, signpost BIELA, follow the bus line to the end of the line. Continue to the road fork. Choose the steepest little street on the left until the turnoff to IM BIRCH. Parking/Carport. Opposite the carport, walk up the forest path (suitable for rollkoffers) about 200m to the house. Arrival by public transport: Brig train station, bus line 3 Biela, to the end of the line. Continue, follow the road uphill for about 300m. At the next fork, turn left, go up the steep little street (about 200m). At the road sign IM BIRCH turn right until the carport. Opposite the carport, follow the forest path uphill, always straight ahead to the house (about 200m) suitable for rollkoffers. I can also pick you up directly at Brig train station, then it would only be about 4 minutes walk. Apartment: The 2-room apartment (36m2) for 2-3 guests is located on the ground floor of my house (separate entrance). It has a bedroom with a double bed (1.40m), a living area with a sofa bed (140/200) with kitchen, dining table and reading corner and a spacious bathroom with shower. The Finnish sauna with wood stove is accessible via the entrance area with storage space (hiking and skiing equipment) of the apartment. The entire apartment has terracotta floors with underfloor heating. Surroundings: Brig is the central place in the Upper Valais with the German-speaking high school, with its baroque Stockalper Castle on the old Simplon road, which leads through the old town past the monastery of St. Ursula and the houses with the little towers. In addition to a rich cultural offer, the lively cafes on the main square, Brig also has the swimming pool Geschina or the thermal bath Brigerbad with slides, river bath and wellness. The holiday apartment is an ideal starting point for excursions to many destinations both in summer and in winter. In less than an hour you can reach the Aletsch area (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Simplon region and the Italian border area, the music village of Ernen, the high valley of Goms, the picturesque capital Sion with Valeria and Tourbillon, the town of Leuk etc. In a little more than an hour you can reach the major regions, Saas Fee, Zermatt, Leukerbad and Crans Montana.
