Description of the holiday rental
Sleeping in the gabled house
The oasis of peace in the centre of the Emmental is located just a few hundred metres from Emmenmatt railway station, directly on the Emme. The Giebelhaus at Emmenhof is looking forward to welcoming adventurous guests.
Gabled house
Discover the two original rooms. They combine traditional, simple construction with modern elements and are suitable for two to four (max. six) people. The rooms have the standard of a youth hostel. One room has a kitchenette and is connected to the bathroom via a steep internal staircase. The shower and WC are also easily accessible via a covered external staircase.
Ämmehof
The gabled house was built in 1949 as an annexe to the neighbouring residential building at Emmenhof. The then manager of the Landi, which was located right next door (today there is a modern wooden apartment block), had this chalet-style house built in 1937. The Ämmehof has managed to retain the charm and character of the past and today presents itself as an inviting place of peace and cosiness. The Ämmehof invites you to linger in the garden house, by the fire bowl, in the semi-shade by the Emme or in the evening sun. And the children can have fun on the giant swing (approx. 5 metres high).
Walks along the Emme or up to the Moosegg
Enjoy the soothing babbling and rushing of the Emme, which borders directly on the Ämmehof. And let your mind wander on a walk along the Emme or on a trek with our donkeys. The grey animals, which are by no means stubborn but also not very fast, lead you into a meditative walk, which is particularly appealing to children. The donkeys are also happy to make their way up to Moosegg or the ruins of Wartenstein Castle.
Activities
If you want to go faster and get further, you can hire an electric bike from us or from Rent-a-Bike in Langnau. The Herzroute and the Herzschlaufen Langnau and Gotthelf loops run in the immediate vicinity and promise unique views and exciting encounters on geranium-covered farms and spruced-up hamlets. Culture and history are not neglected either: the churches with thousands of years of history raise the question of whether the Emmental was really only colonised during the second and third stages of the Alemannic migrations. The latest findings show that an advanced civilisation already existed in the Emmental 2500 years ago (old oven find in Burgdorf Castle). And a considerable amount of the gold found from the Bronze Age probably came from the Napf region... Evidence of more recent history can be found in the Chüechlihuus in Langnau, the Gotthelf Centre in Lützelflüh, the Franz Gertsch Museum and the castle in Burgdorf. They are all easily accessible by e-bike.
