Description
The chalet combines modern architectural elements with natural building materials (wood and natural stone) with untreated wood and natural insulating materials in the interior. The chalet is optimised for sun/light and views without compromising on cosiness. The sleeping area is accessible via a separate corridor from which the two bathrooms (1x shower and 1x bath, each with toilet) also lead off.
A further bedroom is located on the 1st floor, accessible from the gallery.
Due to the galleries in the living and sleeping areas, the house is not suitable for children under the age of 10 for safety reasons
Heating is provided by an air/water heat pump and a heavy Tulikivi soapstone stove. The storage properties of the stove create a cosy atmosphere even after the fire has gone out. At temperatures below -5 degrees, the heat pump requires support from the stove.
The chalet can accommodate up to 4 people. There are two double bedrooms on the ground floor and first floor and a further bedroom with a double bed on the ground floor. The living room and the bedrooms on the ground floor are directly connected to the outside area. The living area consists of an open-plan kitchen and a living/dining area.
From the chalet you have direct access to various hiking trails into the Val Annivers, to the summits (Cret du Midi, La Brinta, Roc d'Orzival) and into the Val d'Rechy without having to use a car.
As the crow flies, the ski slope is about 150 metres from the house. Experienced skiers can choose the direct route to the piste. Alternatively, the free Navette (route "Les Liches") runs directly to the Vercorin cable car station in high season.
Other ski areas can be found within a radius of Nax 12 km, Grimentz/Zinal 15 km, St. Luc/ Chandolin 17 km, Crans Montana 28 km, Veysonnaz (quatre Vallées) 30 km.
In summer it is worth visiting Sion and Sierre or relaxing after a mountain hike at the "Lac des Géronde" (lake with beautiful lido and swimming pool) about 12 km away.
Vercorin is very popular with paragliders because of the thermals and the associated long flights. Information can be found in various videos on YouTube and other platforms.
There is a private car park for 2 cars right next to the house. Access is via a natural/stone staircase to the garden level. In this respect, the access is unfortunately not handicapped accessible.
Smoking is prohibited in the whole house.
Pets are not allowed.
Due to the galleries in the living and sleeping areas, the house is not suitable for children under the age of 10 for safety reasons.
Location description: An unspoilt mountain village with charm. Small ski area and starting point for various hikes.
Relatively guaranteed snow in winter due to the altitude of 1,300 to 1,400 metres. The central Valais spoils its inhabitants with many sunny days (> 270).History:Vercorin was first mentioned as Vercorens in the 11th century. However, the first traces of settlement date back to the Bronze Age. There has probably been a parish since the 12th century, which was subordinate to the Bishop of Sion. The lords of d'Ayent, Chalais and d'Anniviers as well as the Albi of Granges shared the rights to rule the village.
The village comrades of Vercorin were first mentioned in 1299. They regulated the use of the pastures and irrigation systems, the so-called Suonen or Bissen. In the 14th century, they built the 6.3 km long Bisse de Vercorin. To this day, it carries water from the Rèche from the Val de Réchy to the west of the village to the pastures of Vercorin.
The original mountain village with its wooden houses and old granaries is built closely around the Romanesque bell tower and the Gothic choir dating from 1520. The choir of the Saint-Boniface church, decorated with frescoes by Hans Rinischer, is a listed building. In 1964, a new church was built next to the existing church.
Following the construction of the road and the aerial cableway, tourism emerged in 1960 and replaced agriculture as the most important source of income. As a result, hotels, holiday flats and chalets were built. In 1950, 86 people still lived in Vercorin, in 1980 it was 195 and in 2000 it was already 601.
