Description of the holiday rental

Vacation in architectural monument combines heritage conservation and tourism. Historically valuable buildings are taken over, gently renovated and rented out as holiday flats. The model provides a double benefit: the monuments are given a revitalised future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is being realised by the ‘Ferien im Baudenkmal’ foundation, which was set up by the Swiss Heritage Society in 2005.

Public transport: To Ilanz by RhB, from Ilanz to Lumbrein by PostBus, then approx. 2 minutes on foot to the house.

By car: Via A13, exit Reichenau, then on the main road to Ilanz, roundabout in the direction of Lumnezia, then drive to Lumbrein, stay on the main road, 30 metres after the church there is a car park on the right, diagonally opposite on the left is the house.

Parking: Public paid parking spaces approx. 20 metres from the house or on the Schulhausplatz (approx. 500 metres away). You can drive up to the house to unload your luggage.

Number of persons 3-6: 2 bedrooms. On the 1st floor 1 room with double bed (180/200) one room with single bed (90/200). In the attic there is a dormitory for 3 persons. The attic can be reached by a steep ladder.

Season: All year round

Short holidays: Low season

Outdoor space: Balcony and garden seating area with furniture.

Heating: The flat is heated with central heating (pellet). The living area can be heated with a soapstone stove.

Stove / fireplace: soapstone stove. Firewood is available.

WLAN: Is available

Pets: Pets are not allowed.

Altitude: 1'405 m above sea level.

Kitchen: Induction hob, oven, mocha pot.

Bathroom: One bathroom with shower, WC, washbasin. Hairdryer available.

Washing machine: Not available.

Extras: Casa Fontauna is a listed building that has been renovated with great respect for the existing substance. The tenant is aware of this and treats the property with care. Although the technical equipment is modern, certain functional details do not meet current standards and are a potential source of danger. The tenant is aware of these circumstances. The owner, e-domizil and the foundation Ferien im Baudenkmal disclaim any liability. The house has very steep stairs, wooden floors (possibly splinters), low doors and partly low ceilings.
