Alpaca Farm Holiday

This newly 50 M2 renovated 2 level holiday apartment is located in the idyllic foothills of the Alps, at 1000 mtrs above sea level. Our breeding farm includes alpacas and their foals, dairy cows, calves, breeding sows and their piglets, fattening pigs, bees, chickens, cats and our child-friendly dog. We offer a special holiday experience where you have the opportunity to meet all the farm animals and their offspring up close. 

Our traditional Toggenburger house was built in the 16th century and the farm is in the 4th generation ownership. The touch of the exotic extends beyond our alpacas to our mixed cultures from Switzerland, Australia and Japan. Our mixed cultures allow us to offer our international guests supportive suggestions for local trips in fluent German and English, and with the help of our stepmother also in Japanese.
 
Kitchen
The solid wood kitchen with milk glass front and granite surfacing is not just a purposeful cooking area but a real highlight. The kitchen equipped with all cooking attire and has a large cupboard for storing groceries. The extendable table which can seat up to 6 and the comfortable cushioned chairs provides versatility by allowing extra guests at meals or extra room to work. The kitchen window provides a wonderful view of the rolling hills which makes cooking more a pleasure than a chore.  
 
Terrace
On the 16M2 terrace with a view of the Neckertal you can enjoy the sunset with the serenity of the alpacas and see the working life on the farm during the day. The Terrace door from within the kitchen gives ease of access to enjoy your meal under the stars on an alpaca fur seat cover.
 
Living room
The comfortable sofa provides versatility as a relaxation zone or a spacious permanent sleep sofa bed. The living room is equipped with a large screen TV and also fiber optic WiFi for those looking for some evening entertainment.
 
Bedroom
The combination of the unique inclined solid wooden bed with natural surface treatment and the natural materials of the Samina bed system makes sleeping an experience. Sleeping on an incline helps with circulation problems, sleep apnea, snoring, acid reflux, multiple sclerosis, and back problems. And for extra guests the spacious long-term sofa bed ensures a restful sleep.
With the exclusive furnishings of pure alpaca sleeping attire, including alpaca mattress toppers, alpaca duvets and alpaca pillows, as well as the alpaca furs, you will experience the true pleasure of our alpaca products, which you can also purchase in our Alpaka Appenzell farm shop.
 
Bathroom
The modern bathroom is the perfect oasis for some time-out. The bathtub provides comfort and relaxation thanks to the innovative sloping backrest just like a deck chair. And the shower's additional rain-shower function envelops the entire body in a jet of warm water. 


Shopping
The mini shopping center 2 km away leaves nothing to be desired consisting of a bakery, butcher, a supermarket and a farm shop. Enjoy the taste of fresh cow's milk, meat and home-grown products. On our farm you will find our exclusive Alpaka Appenzell farm shop for that special souvenir to reminisce about your unforgettable holiday experience.


Hiking / Cycling
The Alpstein region is a hiker's dream and is particularly loved by cyclists. The Camio Route (The Way of St. James) passes right through the farm and is said to be the most breathtaking part of the Camio Route. And for a lively cycling experience, the Uernasch Pump Track guarantees an exciting day trip.
 
Restaurants
With short walk on route to Schwellbrunn you can pamper your taste buds at the Sitz and the Landscheide restaurants. Or you can visit the very popular Ochsen restaurant in the village of Schönengrund. Our highest recommendation is a trip to the Hochhamm mountain restaurant, with tantalizing cuisine and a breathtaking view of the Säntis and the Alpstein.

Summer Activities
The region offers a variety of barbecue spots in the beautiful nature. The Neker provides a perfect cool down in the hot season, with a public outdoor pool a few minutes' drive away in the neighboring village of Waldstatt. For nature lovers, the treetop path in Neckertal offers a true nature experience with insights into the treetops of the eye-catching kind.
 
Winter Activities
In winter the region offers an excellent opportunity to whiz down the snow at the nearby Hoernli, Hemberg and Schwellbrunn ski-slopes. Our farm is also the perfect starting point for a snow-shoe tour along the Camio. For cross-country skiing enthusiasts there is a varied 15 km long track between Schoenengrund and Schwellbrunn.
