Location description: The picturesque Morcote is one of the most charming holiday destinations in Ticino and is located 12 km from Lugano at the southern end of a narrow headland, directly on Lake Lugano. In 2016, Morcote was voted the most beautiful village in Switzerland by the readers of Schweizer Illustrierte, L'illustré and il caffè. The unique location, mild climate, subtropical vegetation, arcades and narrow streets characterise the former fishing village. The shops (open on Sundays) invite you to take a stroll, while the winding alleyways and fine restaurants make the heart of explorers beat faster. The church of Santa Maria del Sasso and the famous memorial cemetery, from which you have a magnificent view over Lake Lugano, are well known and well worth a visit. The famous Parco Scherrer with architectural buildings from all over the world and typical southern vegetation is also worth a visit.
