The apartment is located on the Bielahügel in a unique spot above Brig, with a view of the Rhone Valley and the surrounding mountains. A secluded garden surrounded by forest, meadows, and an open water channel (Suone, Bisse) separates the property from the adjacent nature reserve "Achera Biela" (Valais rocky steppe with dry vegetation). ARRIVAL Directions by car: From Brig city center (Saltina Bridge right in front of the old town), head toward Simplon. After the swimming pool and cemetery, turn left following signs for BIELA, follow the bus route to the end station. Continue to the road junction. Take the steepest lane to the left until you reach the turnoff for IM BIRCH. Parking spot/carport. Follow the forest path (suitable for wheeled luggage) uphill for about 200 meters to reach the house. Arrival by public transport: Brig train station, take Bus 3 Biela to the end station. Continue uphill along the road for about 300 meters. At the next junction, take the steep lane uphill (about 200 meters). Turn right at the IM BIRCH road sign to reach the carport. Follow the forest path uphill from the carport, straight ahead to the house (about 200 meters), suitable for wheeled luggage. I’m happy to pick you up directly at Brig train station—it’s only about a 4-minute walk from there. Apartment: The 2-room apartment (36m2) for 2-3 guests is located on the ground floor of my house (separate entrance). It features a bedroom with a double bed (1.40m), a living area with a sofa bed (140/200) with a kitchen, dining table, and reading nook, and a spacious bathroom with a shower. The Finnish sauna with a wood stove is accessible via the entrance area, which also offers storage space for hiking and skiing equipment. The entire apartment has terracotta floors with underfloor heating. Surroundings: Brig is the central town in Upper Valais, home to a German-speaking high school and the baroque Stockalper Palace on the old Simplon Road, which winds through the old town past St. Ursula Monastery and the houses with their turreted roofs. In addition to a rich cultural offering and lively cafés on the main square, Brig also boasts the Geschina swimming pool or the Brigerbad thermal baths with slides, a river pool, and wellness facilities. The holiday apartment is an ideal starting point for excursions to many destinations, both in summer and winter. Within less than an hour, you can reach the Aletsch region (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Simplon region and the Italian border area, the musical village of Ernen, the high valley of Goms, the picturesque cantonal capital of Sion with Valeria and Tourbillon, and the town of Leuk, among others. In just over an hour, you can reach the major regions of Saas Fee, Zermatt, Leukerbad, and Crans Montana.
