Description of the holiday rental

Holidays in a listed building combines heritage conservation and tourism. Historically valuable buildings are taken over, gently renovated and rented out as holiday flats. The model provides a double benefit: the monuments are given a revitalised future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is being realised by the ‘Ferien im Baudenkmal’ foundation, which was set up by the Swiss Heritage Society in 2005.

Public transport: By train hourly from St. Moritz and Chur, Bergün railway station 400m from the house. From the railway station or village entrance, cross the bridge towards the village, pass the Römerturm on the right at the village square (Hotel weisses Kreuz / Volg), turn left at the fountain, then the house is on the left.

By car: By car you can either drive from Chur, Thusis, Tiefencastel or in summer from Engandin from La Punt over the Albula Pass.

Car park: There is a garage space for one car. Other cars can be parked in the public car park next to the school. Parking is prohibited in the car park in front of the house, so please only use it for loading and unloading.

Number of persons 6: 2 double rooms, one room with two single beds, one walk-through room with daybed. (Cot available on request).

Season: All year round

Short holidays: Possible in the low season (minimum three nights) and at Easter, Ascension and Whitsun.

Outdoor space: A terrace behind the house with table, chairs, deckchair and parasol. You can play boules or ‘Swedish skittles’ on the house pitch.

Heating: Central heating radiators throughout the house (heat pump). All rooms are easy to heat.

Stove / fireplace: Tiba cooker in the kitchen. When lighting the fire, leave the door open until the fire is well lit. Close the flaps after the fire.

WLAN: Is available

Pets: Pets are not allowed

Altitude: 1320 m above sea level

Kitchen: Electric cooker with oven. Dishwasher available. Fondue and raclette set available. Mocca (Bialetti), for which you need ground coffee. Hand blender.

Bathrooms: Two bathrooms one with shower and toilet, one with bath and toilet. Please air the bathrooms for 5-10 minutes after showering.

Washing machine and tumble dryer: Are available.

Extras: The floors are made of wood and stone, which is why we recommend good slippers. Do not walk through the house in shoes because of the stones in the shoes and the water. Repack the parasol with the protective cover after use. If it does get rained on, pack it up anyway and when the sun shines again, unpack it and leave it to dry. There is a trampoline in the stable, which may be used at your own risk.

Important addition:
The Chesa Viglia is a historic house, a listed building. Although it is technically equipped to modern standards, we would like to point out that certain functional details such as window and door openers, stair handrails and step heights do not comply with current standards and could be a potential source of danger. Use of the trampoline is at your own risk. The tenants are aware of these circumstances. The owner, e-domizil and the Vacation in architectural monument foundation decline any liability.
