Beschrijving van het vakantieappartement
The Chesa Stiefel is a centuries-old Engadine house. The house has been gently renovated and is cosy and stylishly furnished. The house is situated on the edge of the hamlet of Crasta with an unobstructed view of meadows, forest and the mountain ranges of the Upper Engadine.
The small village of Crasta, 1950 metres above sea level, lies on a ridge in the middle of the Fex Valley. Crasta is home to a well-known Romanesque chapel, the Hotel Sonne, the Pensiun Crasta, a farm and several residential buildings.
There is a rich network of hiking trails in the valley and throughout the Upper Engadine. The Fex Valley is an ideal starting point for high mountain tours. In winter there are many snow hiking trails. A cross-country ski trail leads to the end of the valley to the Fex Glacier. Sils-Maria offers access to the Furtschellas-Corvatsch alpine ski slopes.
Sils, with its traditional hotels, is known for its rich cultural programme. The Biblioteca Engiadinaisa with its view of Lake Sils combines a wonderful atmosphere with modern infrastructure. The tourist office organises sporting activities and provides information about wellness options. A night bus provides a connection to the nightlife centre of St. Moritz until late at night. All Sils and Fex offers can be found on the web.
Location
Decades ago, the Fex Valley was placed under nature protection because of its special geological features, fauna and flora. Due to the strict building regulations, the valley has retained much of its character. Only valley residents have access to the valley.
Situated in the centre of the valley, the house can be reached on foot from Sils-Maria in half an hour or by horse-drawn carriage. House guests are guided from Chesa Pool or Pensiun Crasta to Chesa Stiefel on arrival and departure. It is possible to take the bus from Pensiun Crasta to the valley at around 9.40 in the morning and back to the valley at around 16.45 in the evening. Booking is necessary in each case.
Coop delivers goods from the entire coop range in very good quality directly to your door.
Order by 3 pm the day before. Delivery from Monday to Friday.
Since Sils has built a convenient underground car park in the middle of the village, the beauty of the village can be enjoyed again. The multi-storey car park is obligatory.
Anyone travelling by train arrives at St. Moritz station, where they board the PostBus or the EngadinBus and reach Sils-Maria in 20 minutes. There are several Mobility cars in the Engadin.
To the house
The house has three floors. You enter the entrance hall through a large gate. Up the stairs is the cloakroom, the living room with fireplace and small library and access to the terrace and garden, the old parlour with its vaulted ceiling, the large, well-equipped eat-in kitchen with dishwasher and a bathroom.
On the upper floor there is another living room with TV, four bedrooms and another bathroom. Cots and extra beds are available.
The living area is 220m2.
The house is used by families with three generations, by two families together, by smaller groups, as a place to work (tables and w-lan are available). The house itself and the surrounding area are attractive for children and encourage all kinds of activities. The Rhaetian grey cattle of the Crasta farm, the chickens and rabbits of the villagers, yaks, llamas and horses in the valley and the marmots and chamois on the mountain fascinate children and adults alike.
The house cannot be rented more than one year in advance, except for Christmas/New Year.
The arrival and departure day is normally Saturday.
The Engadin is very quiet in November and May. Many offers are not available.

Location description: Sils - an enrichment for body, mind and soul
Sils is a place of strength. This can even be measured. But what's the point if you fall for the magic of the landscape at first sight anyway?
Writers such as Nietzsche, artists such as Beuys and musicians such as David Bowie have been inspired by the fantastic expanse and this magical light and have contributed to Sils being considered THE cultural centre in the Engadin today. Guests from all over the world and the locals proudly and with good reason refer to Sils as a place of energy and power. This is because particularly high "Bovis values" have been measured here.
Idyllically nestled between Lake Sils and Lake Silvaplana, the village lies at the gateway to the romantic Fex Valley and is the perfect starting point for walks in the vastness of this sun-drenched landscape. In winter, the Fex Valley is best explored by horse-drawn sleigh.
If you want to go higher, you will find a variety of hiking and mountain tours on the local mountain, Furtschellas. And a trip on Lake Sils with Europe's highest scheduled boat is a particularly impressive way to enjoy the mountain scenery.
Sils is also a perfect starting point for winter hikes and cross-country skiing tours through the expanse of frozen lakes. You can go alpine skiing on the local mountain, Furtschellas. From there, you can quickly get even higher - to Corvatsch with the highest mountain station in the Eastern Alps (3303 metres above sea level). From there, 120 pretty sporty kilometres of pistes lead back down into the valley.
