Description of the holiday rental
Beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped holiday flat on the ground floor and garden level of a traditional chalet. Suitable for 4-7 people (8 if one person sleeps on a sofa bed in the living room). The chalet consists of 3 floors separated by a staircase (the top floor is rented separately from this property). On the ground floor is the master bedroom with a king-size bed (180 cm) and a TV (with Apple TV box), as well as a bathroom with a large bathtub (with shower) and a separate WC. Also on the ground floor is the combined living and dining room with a wood-burning stove and a very well-equipped kitchen. On the garden floor, which is separated from the ground floor by a staircase, are the two additional bedrooms (for up to 5 people) and a bathroom with shower. The two bedrooms have bunk beds with very comfortable mattresses (90cm) and one of the bedrooms has an additional single bed (90cm). Quietly and centrally located in the car-free village of Mürren, Chalet Sunnerain is only 300 metres on foot from the Schilthorn cable car with access to the skiing and hiking area. From the balcony you can enjoy panoramic views of the Bernese Alps. There is also a garden with seating and barbecue. The chalet has a separate entrance area with plenty of space for coats and shoes as well as a ski room. Washing machine and tumble dryer are available (for shared use with guests on the upper floor). The chalet is newly furnished (June 2020) and equipped to a high standard. 4+ star classification by the Swiss Tourism Federation. A double cableway leads from Lauterbrunnen to the plateau, while a cableway from Stechelberg takes you past tumultuous waterfalls and rugged rock faces to the centre of the car-free village of Mürren and on to the Schilthorn at 2970 m. At the end of the 1960s, the makers of the Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" were immediately taken with the futuristic revolving restaurant on the Schilthorn: the scenes with the imaginary "Piz Gloria" had to be shot here... The film was a great success, as were the Schilthorn cable car and the revolving restaurant. The magnificent 360° panorama from the summit shows the world-famous Alpine triumvirate of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and extends as far as Mont Blanc and the Black Forest. Winter The Mürren-Schilthorn winter sports region has 53 km of groomed ski and snowboard pistes, toboggan runs and a network of winter hiking trails. Outside the Lauterbrunnen Valley, a further 30 or so cable cars and lifts and 160 km of pistes can be used in the other ski areas of the Jungfrau Region. In the valley between Stechelberg and Lauterbrunnen there is an 11 km long cross-country ski trail. Summer From Mürren you can also enjoy an impressive view of the mountain peaks opposite. The holiday resort is the starting point for hikes (200 km of hiking trails), excursions and adventures. A funicular railway takes you up to the Allmendhubel, directly above the village at 1907 metres above sea level. Themed trails such as the North Face Trail, which provides information about the history of mountaineering on the North Face, or the Flower Panorama Trail invite you to discover the region. Playgrounds and picnic areas are available for families with children, while more challenging tours lead into the nature reserve in the rear Lauterbrunnen valley and through the Sefinental valley and over the Sefinenfurgge into the neighbouring Kiental valley.
